Today i'm going to talk about the above Fedex advertisment.
This advertisement has very little use of words and it plays about with the common stereotype of dogs being a man's best friend and its loyalty to mankind. It starts off showing a man hiking with his dog and the man unfortunately falls into a "hole". The man then sends the dog to get help. But it turns out that the dog meets another dog and fell in love with that the other dog. And in the end the man has to get help on his own even after injuring himself.
The aim of the advertisement is probably to show that Fedex is reliable and also more reliable than dogs who are supposedly the most loyal animals around.
I like the way they used dogs in the advertisement and the music does play a huge role in creating the ambience for the advertisement.the use of words is minimal but it is essential to get the gist of the advertisement since dogs cant talk. The background that they used is also very unique in a way. It is not everyday that you see people doing advertisements in the green fields of mother nature.
This advertisement really caught my attention. First the music attracted me then the use of dogs and seeing them fall in love at first sight made me laugh. And it being used to advertise Fedex delivery made it really interesting.
But it all boils down to each individuals perception in the end. And each individual might have different points of view of whether or not this is an effective advertisement, What do you think about it? (:

I agree totally that Fedex advertisements are great! They have the most unusual yet humourous ideas on their ads! Not lame but truly funny! They mainly focus on pathos and logos in their ads.
In all their ads, they are only bringing across one message and it is to trust in Fedex to deliver the good efficiently.
In this ad, dogs are considered man's best friend. Yet they are trying to imply that no matter how loyal your dog is, nothing beats the effectiveness of Fedex delivery!

hey.. yeah.. i agree with chloe! Fedex always comes out with great advertisements! i like the idea of using dogs in the advertisement too.. it showcases how they want to be a reliable courier service that people can rely on regardless of the situation.. :) i'll be loyal to u too, like fedex!! :P

I've watched this ad many times and just like Chloe, i agree that Fedex advertisements have the most unusual ideas but are really humourous!
First and foremost, the dog is really cute! And its really funny how they exaggerate the movements of the dog, when he jumps and all, so i guess that's where paralinguistics are being used according to the tone of the music! And its really funny how the dog forgets all about his mission when he meets the other female dog. The injection of humour into the ad sure does make it an effective one =)

i agree with what all of them had said that fedex has great advertisements. even if most of their ads are funny but each of them have a hidden meaning behind them. that is what makes the advertisement so interesting and probably catchy. :)
hah... it's a well done commercial. FedEx is more reliable than a supposedly loyal man's best friend!! real catchy... a message well presented in an intriguing manner.
